A passive house refers to a rigorous, voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building and the reduction of the ecological footprint. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling. Passive design is not an attachment or supplement to architectural design, but a design process that is integrated with architectural design.
We are building using this method but applying it to how Americans live, in homes with free flowing larger rooms and open floor plans.
